A small but keen group of twelve women showed up to ride this evening under skies which were sunnier than we we've become used to. Still it wasn't quite picnic weather - The temperature was cool (15C) and the NW winds blustery. Not a single woman who had ridden earlier in the 2006 WTT series improved upon her 2006-WTT previous best. In fact, all but Zoe Panchen (who had missed last week's easy conditions) were more than 10% lower in their Performance Ratio than in their previous best 2006 WTT ride. You may click here to see a graph of those who rode this week and last. Tricia Spooner's 15:40 is, by a long shot, the quickest ride yet this year in the WTT series, and the 11th fastest time which we have on record for WTT 10km results. To see these top results sorted by Date with the weather information shown, you may click here. Considering the difficulty of the winds tonight, Tricia's ride may be one of the highest power-output rides of these. If we were to adjust her speed for the EvtFactor calculated (currently .8379) to that expected under ideal circumstances, we'd get an adjusted speed of 38.298/(.8379**(1/3))=40.623, i.e., a time of 14:46.
There's just one more 10km WTT this year - on Tuesday May 30 (registration in the parking lot about 2km east of the 15km start), and then we're on to the 15km events.
